Pre-Emergency Response
Classroom preparation, via CPR/AED, First Aid, and BBP classes helps the Responder develop the necessary skills when faced with an emergency. However, one is never really prepared when the emergency is "real," no matter how many hours of practice.
This workshop helps members of Emergency Response Teams prepare to handle an emergency before it happens. This session addresses the role of anxiety, the physical demands of responding to an emergency, and decision-making under duress.
- 2 hour Workshop
Post-Emergency Response Debriefing
No matter how well we responded to an emergency, the challenges presented in the aftermath, may be greater than what we can handle. This is by no means a sign of weakness, or being unprepared. Many factors contribute to the outcome for the rescuer: physical conditions, lack of sleep, psycho-social issues, environmental factors. Unaddressed, lingering images, thoughts and feelings can have an impact on our daily lives.*
This workshop helps responders address the immediate, or lingering, stressors in the aftermath of an emergency. Specific techniques and strategies are taught to alleviate any unwanted thoughts, feeling, or memories. This workshop can be arranged for individuals or groups of responders.
- 2 hour Workshop
*This is not to be confused with a much more serious version of trauma called Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PtSD). We have all heard of war veterans who experience panic attacks when they hear sudden loud noises or worse yet, flashbacks. PtSD can result when one experiences something excruciatingly painful (emotionally) and unfathomable. PtSD is a serious condition and should be treated by qualified mental health personnel.
